Mr. Manohar Parrikar, known for his simplicity and dedication, is known by his qualities. Though he was the Chief Minister of Goa, he was also a person of simplicity and ordinary talent. He was such a person whose life was nothing more than work. Corruption could never touch them. He was a clean image leader.
There is no shortage of corruption leaders in our country, but there is lack of clean image leaders. Therefore, despite the abundance of our country’s abundance, it is counted among the developing countries.
Despite being the Chief Minister, he has always been working as a servant of the people for ever. He never used the chief minister’s residence during his working hours. There was never any allegation of corruption in his name. He was suffering from disease for a long time, yet he continued to serve the public. They did not take a day off. He was the Chief Minister of the country, who was graduating from IIT.
Manohar Parrikar was sworn in as Goa’s 10th Chief Minister of Goa. He has also been the Defence Minister of the country. He took oath of Chief Minister of the state of Goa 14 March 2017 and remained posthumously in post. Before this, he was Chief Minister of Goa from 2000 to 2005.
In 2014, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister and took over the post of Defence Minister in the cabinet of the Bharatiya Janata Party government, Shri Narendra Modi. And the responsibility of the Defence Minister of the country from 2014 to 2017 took over.

Manohar Parrikar Birth and His Family
The inspiration and simplicity of the life of Mr. Manohar Parrikar was born in a simple family in Mapusa village of Goa state on 13 December 1955. Parrikar’s family belonged to the Gaur Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community. His father’s name was Gopal Krishna Parrikar and mother’s name was Radha Bai Parrikar.

Manohar Parrikar was married to Megha Bai Parrikar at the age of 26 in 1981. Parrikar’s wife Megha Bai Parrikar died in 2001 due to cancer. In October 2001, he was elected the CM of Goa. Megha Bai Parrikar died at the age of 40 years. Parrikar has two sons named Utpal Parrikar and Abhijit Parrikar.
Both sons of Parrikar have nothing to do with their political interests. Parrikar’s eldest son Utpal Parrikar is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University of the US. Utpal has married his girlfriend Uma Sardesai, who has studied from the University of California. Both of them have a son whose name is Dhruv.
The younger son Abhijeet is a businessman and he married to Sai in 2013, she is a pharmacist by profession.
Manohar Parrikar Education
Parrikar started his education only with the Madgaon Goa. He studied up to class 12 from the Loyola High School in Marathi language. After that he joined the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai and completed his engineering studies. Parrikar was one of the chief ministers who studied engineering in Metallurgy from IIT Mumbai and graduated.

During Parrikar’s schooling, he joined the RSS (RSS). And in the last days of the school, he became the Chief Instructor of RSS. After doing graduation he started working in the RSS Mapusa. After joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he got the ticket for the first time to election from Goa’s panji seat. And he won. But in this election the BJP could not perform anything fairly and Parrikar played his role as leader of the opposition.
Manohar Parrikar thus played the role of Secretary and Spokesperson from the BJP from 1994 to 2001.

In the year 2000, Lok Sabha elections were held in Goa, in which BJP won and got an opportunity to come to power. And thus on 24 October 2000 Parrikar became the first Chief Minister of Goa. Immediately a sad incident took place. His wife Megha Bai Parrikar who suffered from cancer died suddenly. In this time they were trapped in family confusion. After the death of his wife, he also took care of the children well. Meanwhile, for some reason his government fell on 27 February 2002.
Again, on June 5, 2002, the government was elected, but due to the resignation of the 4 MLAs, his government came into the minority.
Chief Minister to defence minister journey
BJP faced defeat in the 2007 assembly elections. In March 2012, the assembly elections in Goa were held in which the BJP got a majority and Bharatiya Janata Party handed Manohar Parrikar the post of chief minister of Goa. And due to the BJP’s overwhelming majority, the BJP government also became Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Then the Modi government, Parrikar was elected to the defence minister in his cabinet and had to leave the post of chief minister. And Laxmikant Parsekar was made Chief Minister of Goa State.
While on the post of Defence Minister, he made many special decisions and kept his work paramount.
After this, the BJP won again in the assembly elections held in Goa in 2017, after which the MLAs proposed Manohar Parrikar to make a CM of the state, due to which he resigned from the post of Union Defence Minister on March 13, 2017 and on March 14, 2017, Parrikar took over as Chief Minister of Goa. . Manohar Parrikar Dead
From February 2018, Parrikar began to be upset with serious illness like cancer and pancreatic cancer. Then when he was admitted in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. In the first week of March, they went to the United States for treatment. And after returning from there, joined the office. They were also keeping their work load. And always remain active in politics. After returning from the US, treatment was also done in Delhi’s AIIMS hospital. After so much treatment, he passed away on 17 March 2019 at his residence.
His death filled the whole country with hobbies. All leaders expressed their gratitude by tweeting He was a great leader. In his life, the feeling of simplicity and dedication was filled with rift. We can never forget the country they have made.
One day national hobby was celebrated throughout the country. He was cremated with full state honours on March 18 at 5 pm.
Manohar Parrikar Awards
- He was awarded the prestigious Alumnus Award by IIT Bombay in 2001.
- On September 28, 2018, he received the honorary doctorate degree from the National Institute of Technology, Goa.
- Due to its cleanest image, CNN-IBN Indian of the Year award was awarded in 2012.
