Mahavir swami life story

Mahavir Swami is the last and the 24th Tirthankar of the Jains. He was born in a rich Kshatriya family. Mahavir Swami was born in 540 BC in Kundalpur village of Vaishali Ganrajya.

His father was a Kshatriya king of Ikshvaku dynasty. These were descendants of Lord Rama. Her mother is the sister of Lichchavi’s king chetak name is Trishala. And his father’s name was Siddhartha.

His father made all the facilities & luxurious life styles for his son Mahavir. But he did not feel like all these things, luxurious lifestyles did not attract to him.

Vardhaman Mahavir had abandoned his house at the age of 30 years, and after 12 days of hard meditation, he received knowledge in Shramik Gram on the bank of river Rijupalika. After which he was called ‘Gin, Dantratha, Arhat and Akinin.

Founder of Jain religion and the first Rishabhdev. According to the tradition of Jainism, there are total 24 pilgrims. Jainism was the 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanath.

Before Mahavira, Parsvnath had given four Jain theories- truth, non-violence, non-acceptance and austerity. Add “Brahmacharya” to Mahavira in the fifth principle.

  • Astyah: – No one should steal money. No one should even take the given.
  • Brahmacharya: – We should follow Brahmacharya. Should be moderate towards sex and for the monks, it is necessary for sensual pleasures and for the householders to show faith in someone’s companions.
  • Unimaginative: – Should not attach more than any attachment to anyone.

Even after so many years, the name of Lord Mahavir is remembered with the same reverence and devotion, the root cause of this is that Mahavir gave the message not only salvation but also the simple and true path of salvation. Lord Mahavir preached non-violence religion to achieve spiritual and eternal happiness.
