Durga Puja Essay:-We live in India; here people live of different religions together among themselves, such as Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians. And believe in different religions. India is a country of festivals.

Durga Pooja is a very big festival of Hinduism. People celebrate this festival with great fun and enthusiasm. This festival starts from the last of Ashwin month i.e. Shukla Paksha and lasts for nine days. Some called Navratri also.

In this festival, some people fast for nine days. And some people fast only four days on sixth, Saptami, Ashtami and Navami, the tenth day is called Vijayadashami. On this day, people celebrate with great enthusiasm, trust and joy, there is an atmosphere of happiness all around.

A huge and magnificent idol of Durga Mata is installed. This program starts on Saptami (seven). Mother’s idols are decorated with colorful clothes and flowers. Durga Mata has ten arms and ten arms are equipped with weapons. Surrounds and the environment arise. In the morning and evening, the hymns of the four and aarti and mother are heard.

On this occasion, holidays are given in all schools and colleges and government institutions. And the traders also keep their commercial place closed. People prepare for Durga Puja two months in ago. People who go to metro cities to earn some money for their livelihood, they all return to own homeland on Durga Pooja.

All Children and old people wear new clothes. And go to burn effigy of Ravana. A huge and giant statue of Ravana, Kumbhakaran and Meghnad is placed on the main road of the city and burns with fire.

This festival shows the victory of good over evil. And brothers give the message of fodder.

Different Names of Durga Pooja

 

People of every region consider the glory of Durga Puja. And the people of the country also call it by different names. Everyone has the same purpose but the method is different to celebrate. For example, in Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Tripura, people know Durga Puja as Akalbodhan.

People of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala and Maharashtra celebrate him by the name of Navratri utsav. Because the people of Gujarat organize Dandiya daily from Kalashsthan to Navami (nine). And by organizing various programs, people entertain themselves. And worship the goddess durga one to nine days continuously.

Durga Puja is a religious and faith festival. Devotees worship the nine forms of Maa Durga with great reverence and love. And they also ask for their boon. It is one of the important festivals in India. On this occasion, people make different kinds of sweets and offer it to the mother.

Durga Puja is celebrated with great fervor in West Bengal. Apart from this, this festival is also celebrated in countries like Nepal and Bhutan.

By performing Durga Pooja, the negative energy in people is converted into positive. There is peace and happiness in the house. They believe so.

Legend story of Durga and Mahishasura

Many stories are based on Durga Puja. According to a legend, on this day, Durga Mata took the form of Chandi and defeated the mighty demon Mahisasura in a war and won her. Mahisasura had placed four more tahi tahi on earth on the strength of his terror. On requesting all the gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva together requested Durga Mata. O Goddess, free the earth from the terror of Mahishasura. Then, Mother Durga killed the demon Mahisasura on the day of Dashami. Therefore, this day is also called Dussehra.
