Lal Bahadur Shastri Essay :- After the posthumous emergency of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri was made the Prime Minister. Therefore Shastri took over the reins of the country as the second Prime Minister.

After Nehruji’s death, why was Shastriji made the Prime Minister, why not the other one. Because he was a leader of an honest, dutiful and clean image.

After the sudden death of Nehru ji on 27 May 1964, Lal Bahadur Shastri was given the post of Prime Minister on 9 June 1964. Shastriji was an independent fighter.

Besides even though he was of a small height, he was rich in great power and will power. He always followed the steps of great men.

Shastri was born on 2 October 1904 at Ramnagar near Mughalsarai (Dist.Varanasi) in British India. His father’s name was Munshi Sharda Prasad Srivastava. His family belongs a kayasth .

Who was a teacher by profession? therefore later took the job of clerk in the Revenue Department in Allahabad? His mother’s name was Ram dulari Devi, who was a housewife.

Shastri jee was the second child of his parents.  Therefore all the family member of Munshi Sharda Prasad called nanhe to shastri ji.

Family Information

Shastri ji ‘s life is full of struggles, because his father died when he was just one year child. Therefore with no support , this, Mother Ramdulari Devi took Lal Bahadur and her elder sister Kailashi to her father Hazari Lal’s house in Mirzapur .

After some time his maternal grandfather also died. Now his mother got upset because it was very difficult to raise a child without any guardian  support. In such a situation, his warts helped him a lot.


Shastri got his early education in his maternal grandfather’s home at Mirzapur. And after that education was done at Harishchandra High School and Kanshi-Vidyapeeth. He get the title of Shastri from Kanshi-Vidyapeeth. After them, Lal Bahadur added the word Shastri to his name.

Lal Bahadur was born in a Kayastha family. Hence the word Srivastava was attached to his name. But now Lal Bahadur Srivastava became Lal Bahadur Shastri.


 In 1928, Shastri was married to Lalita Shastri. She was the daughter of Ganesh Prasad, a resident of Mirzapur. Lalita gave birth to two daughters and four sons.

Kusum and Suman are two daughters. And Harikrishna, Anil, Sunil and Ashoka are the names of four sons . Two of his sons have passed away and two sons Sunil Shastri is working in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Anil Shastri in the Congress Party.
